the dry bilge machine
Bilge odor issues solved aboard 60 foot Post
Does this story sound familar? A mix of water & oil in the outboard engine room enters the hollow stringers. Next, the bilge liquids flow forward through the stringers because the bow is lower in the static float position. Finally, the liquids exit under the masterstateroom cabin sole. Now this pond under the floor grows bilge slime. Mildew starts to grow in the same compartments under the floor. The wet vac is used repeatedly. Clorox is poured. The boat still stinks.
The Captain bought and installed the unit himself in November of 2006. Today, the bilges are automatically maintained bone dry and the odors are a distant memory.
